Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Extra blueberries for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water.

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Cook for 5–7 minutes until the blueberries burst and the sugar dissolves completely.

Remove from heat and strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing gently to extract the juice.

Let the blueberry syrup cool completely.

In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, cooled blueberry syrup, and remaining 3 cups of cold water.

Stir well and taste. Add additional sugar or lemon juice if desired.

Garnish with lemon slices, blueberries, and fresh mint if desired.

Tips for the Best Blueberry Lemonade

Fresh lemon juice gives the brightest, freshest flavor.

If you prefer a sweeter lemonade, add a little more sugar to the blueberry syrup.

Chilling the lemonade before serving helps the flavors blend together even more.

For a sparkling version, replace some of the water with sparkling water or club soda.

    Easy Variations

This blueberry lemonade is easy to customize for different flavors.

    Try adding:

    • strawberries
    • raspberries
    • blackberries
    • fresh basil
    • mint leaves
    • sparkling water

You can also freeze blueberries into ice cubes for a fun summer presentation.

    Serving Ideas

This refreshing blueberry lemonade pairs perfectly with:

    • BBQ meals
    • burgers
    • grilled chicken
    • picnic sandwiches
    • fruit salads
    • summer desserts

It’s perfect for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day parties, baby showers, brunches, and backyard summer gatherings.

    Storage Tips

Store leftover blueberry lemonade in a covered pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Stir before serving since some natural separation may occur.

For the freshest flavor, add ice directly to glasses instead of the pitcher.
